About This Wine
Inspired by the Washington D.C. post-hardcore band Rites of Spring—whose name came from Stravinsky’s riot-causing ballet, itself referencing ancient Pagan rituals—this Grenache is a playful nod to both music and winemaking culture. Sourced from the Wood Vineyard in McLaren Flat, adjacent to Blewitt Springs, the fruit is handpicked and naturally fermented.
Fermentation took place in open-top fermenters with 50% whole clusters and 50% crushed fruit. After 10–30 days of skin contact (depending on the lot), the wine was pressed and aged for eight months in neutral French oak. Bottled with 52 ppm sulfur, gently filtered, and unfined.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright ruby red.
Nose: Aromas of fresh red berries, lifted florals, and subtle spice, with earthy undertones.
Palate: Juicy and vibrant, with a balance of ripe berry fruit and savoury complexity. Fine tannins, a fresh acid line, and a soft, lingering finish.
