About This Wine
A special, limited-production Pinot Noir from the Pommard AOC, crafted with minimal intervention and exceptional craftsmanship. Only 50 dozen bottles were produced, with just 2 dozen imported. The wine represents a fusion of traditional Burgundian heritage and a modern, natural approach.
Vintage Overview
The 2023 Burgundy vintage was marked by timely rainfall and near-perfect conditions during flowering and fruit set, leading to generous, healthy crops. Disease pressure was minimal and easily managed. A warm, even growing season ensured steady development, while rising temperatures in late August prompted an early harvest to preserve acidity.
Harvest & Vinification
Harvest: Handpicked on 7 September 2023 under ideal conditions. 700 kg of fruit were selected, yielding two French oak barriques post-press. The fruit was hand-sorted and mostly destemmed before going into a single fermentation tank.
Fermentation: Indigenous yeast initiated fermentation after a few days. Gentle hand-plunging was carried out for 14 days before pressing.
Maturation: Aged for 10 months in two French oak barriques (two-year-old and four-year-old). Bottled without fining or filtration.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright ruby red with garnet hints.
Nose: Blackberry, cherry pit, plum, raspberry, redcurrant, spice, and earthy nuances.
Palate: Medium-bodied, well-balanced, with vibrant red and dark fruit complexity. Fine tannins and a harmonious structure lead to a refined finish.
