Tasting Notes
Deep tawny in color with vibrant amber-brown hues and a subtle olive edge. The nose is complex and expressive, evolving in the glass with aromas of spiced dark fruit cake, roasted Brazil nuts, and lifted dried citrus notes.
The palate is rich and brooding with impressive depth of flavor. Layers of mature nutty characters and dark fruit richness are balanced by bright acidity, giving the wine remarkable length and structure. The finish is long and persistent, highlighting its beautifully integrated aged complexity.

Winemaking & Heritage
The Para Tawny Collection represents the heart of Seppeltsfield’s fortified wine tradition, named after the Para River that winds through the Barossa landscape. Para Rare Tawny is crafted by carefully blending individual vintage parcels to achieve a minimum average age of 15 years.
This style combines richly aged Tawny material with the addition of Rich Rare Apera, creating a distinctive balance of depth, sweetness, and aromatic complexity. The wine is matured in seasoned old oak hogsheads, allowing it to develop layers of spice, nutty richness, and exceptional palate length. Under the Australian Fortified Classification system, wines of this style fall into the “Rare” category, reflecting their mature character and extended aging.
