About This Wine
Another year, another dalliance with one of the most intriguing grape varieties. This classic, barrel-fermented expression of Gewürztraminer captures the elegance and purity of old vines, while evoking the nostalgic charm of early Australian aromatic wines.
Fruit was handled in two ways: 50% crushed and soaked before pressing, and 50% whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation took place in small old oak barrels on partial solids with some batonnage. The wine then matured for 8 months in old small-format oak. Wild yeast fermentation and sterile filtration complete the picture. Harvested 22nd February 2022.
Tasting Notes
A pronounced and varietally pure nose of rose, grape, pink guava, green pineapple, and lime zest. The palate is silky and textural, with light, elegant phenolics and a burst of fresh fruit. Delicate florals are underpinned by a firm backbone, making this wine equally suited to sipping on its own or pairing with food.
