Tasting Notes

Planted in 1969 by a former Mayor of Adelaide, The Mayor’s Vineyard sits at 500m elevation on the eastern ridge of Clare Valley. Its red loam and slate soils impart a distinctive ferrous minerality. The 2019 vintage is savory, complex, and built for longevity, offering aromas of red earth, hung deli meats, oolong tea, and salted mulberries.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and bold with concentrated black fruit, dried herbs, and a touch of eucalyptus forest floor. The tannins are robust yet well-integrated, leading to a long, driving finish. This is a serious Clare Valley Shiraz—powerful, layered, and age-worthy without excessive alcohol or overt oak.
